Does plugging in the balanced cables cutoff output from the RCA outputs? I want to use both for separate amps/speakers.
Thanks

I think you mean the XSP-1. There is an XPS-1 also but that's a phono preamp. To answer your question, I'm 99.9% sure that both XLR and RCA outputs are active at the same time. I don't have an XSP-1 however, so if someone who has one can chime in that'd be great.

Apparently I'm dyslexic. Yes I meant the XSP-1 pre-amp. I highly doubt there is a cutoff switch but I'd just light to make sure before pulling the plug on getting one.

Hi danb - Don't feel alone in the WTF world of Emotiva product names - They drive me nuts too. I believe that the XSP-1 balanced and unbalanced outputs are completely discreet. That being the case, you should have output on both simultaneously, and of the selected input. I use the high-pass XLR outputs, but the unbalanced (RCA) low-pass subwoofer outputs - works like a charm! Boomzilla

Like the others, I am fairly confident both sets of outputs remain active at all times. But, prior to ordering, it might be worth calling Emotiva to confirm if it is really important. FYI, on almost all my purchases from them, I had 1 or two questions I needed answered, so I typically called them to confirm the answers then placed the order while I was on the phone. Only on a couple things (like my XPS-1 and some cables) did I just order on line.
