I know this has been discussed or at least mentioned in context but I'm a very satisfied UMC-200 owner and use an external Peachtree DAC which is also great. However, I have a chance to buy a Gen 2 XDA-2 for $140 and am seriously considering it for sonic and, unfortunately, for vanity reasons. I essentially need someone to talk me out of it.
For 2 channel (requiring USB output from my Mac Mini), I'm extremely curious how different the XDA-2 connected to the UMC-200 would sound compared to both the UMC-200 standalone or to the UMC/Peachtree DAC.
With all the challenges in life, I can't believe I'm obsessing about this. I do realize that an XMC-1 purchase would make all this mute and offer a dramatically superior 2 channel experience.
Sigh...

You need someone to talk you out of it...well, personally as a fellow UMC-200 owner I'd be all over the XDA-2 Gen 2 at $140. I wouldn't even debate it. Seems like a logical purchase and a deal.

Curious if you took the plunge and added the XDA-2?

Yes, thanks to this thread and one or two reviews, I went ahead and put down the $140 and am now the proud owner of an XDA-2 Gen 2 including boxes. Immaculate it is.

I intend to do the same thing once I find one available. I think you made a smart decision. Enjoy the XDA-2.

I think that the xda-2 is now gone in emo's website. Used market is the way to go

I just found one local. I intend to take my own advice and hope for a quick and painless transaction. I've PM'd the seller, awaiting a response. Wish me luck.
