Loved the XDA2! Loved it even more in American 240V. But it would be even better if: - Auto turn on when power is restored... It's really annoying having to turn it on everyday...
- Able to completely turn off the lights...
- Non-oversample mode. Superslow rolloff mode.
- Maybe a model with no headphone amp for cheaper, I have no need for it...
- Reclock without resample, this should always be on, then get rid of the ASRC.
Also, big form factor is fine if it improves the audio quality, if not, then smaller is better.

Hi some thoughts. : Turning off the lights will likely never happen. It's been asked for so many times. I'm guessing the issue would be the amount of tech calls by users who are wondering why the display is broken. Auto turn on when the power is restored is likely a safety feature. One that I appreciate. The last few times when the power has failed it comes back on with continuing "brown outs" for several minutes. Having my DAC turn on during that time is asking for trouble. Also if a bunch of amps and high current devices are all connected to the same striip and turning on at the same time then you have issues with the voltage sagging and it wouldn't be the best thing for the DAC to turn on during this time too. Now what you can do is by the Emotiva trigger control and attach all your units to it. Then when the trigger controller is activated it will turn on all your units one by one. And provide a short pause between each one to help with current rush. Though I'm not sure if the XDA-2 has a trigger in.... The headphone amp is of course a preference thing. I really like the headphone amp on the DC-1 personally. very useful. But I can understand the want for a purist approach. Reclock without resample. ASRC can be turned off and completely bypassed for your current XDA-2. The DC-1 also has a better ASRC which DOESN'T RESAMPLE THE AUDIO. It processes it in its original stream. I think what you are looking for in terms of form factor and sound quality is undoubtedly a DC-1. Its audio quality (at least in a well setup system to my ears) is markedly better than the XDA-2. More details. More dynamics. A more coherent sound stage. Now there's stuff better than the DC-1 as well. But the DC-1 is absolutely an upgrade (for me). It's also smaller!
