Due to finances I ahd to sell mine but please make sure you use Dirac, it makes the XMC-1 that much better, I miss it dearly and welcome to the lounge, there's tons of info here on setup and daily use on the XMC-1 and Dirac. Thanks everyone. I absolutely love the new and way improved resolution I'm getting with the XMC-1. I haven't slept with it, but It does leave me smiling afterwards. As far as Dirac,it is set up but I'm not sure correctly. I don't seem to get enough gain on the mic with my setup. With the Mic gain all the way up the meter barely moves and I get the too many clipped samples error during setup. I'm thinking maybe its my laptop.

You may need to go into your input settings in your PC and adjust the gain there as well, I never had to but there may be some that had to, might be something in the Dirac manual on that. Chad

Did you play the test tones and adjust the output level to get the reading in the proper zone before running it?

I adjusted all the speaker levels in the middle of the green markers. I have to set them below the mark to get it to pass and not give me the clipping error. The mic gain is maxed in the red while I do this as I can hardly get the meter to register anything in my room when its quiet.

The mic gain is maxed in the red while I do this as I can hardly get the meter to register anything in my room when its quiet. It's okay to have the mic gain maxed out. The important thing is that you have the test tones playing in the right zone and get no clipping of signals. Do you have an SPL meter. If so, what kind of SPL are you getting at the listening position when setting the output levels? You may try this alternate method: 1. Set the Output volume slider all the way down, at -80 dB. 2. Click on the Test button for the left channel and gradually increase Output volume. You should hear pink noise playing from the left speaker. Continue to increase volume until it is at a moderate level, such that your voice would have to be raised to converse with someone sitting next to you. 3. Set the Input gain slider so that the blue bar on the level meter is about in the middle of the green section, or around -12 dB This is the way I do it with Dirac Full and a MiniDSP UMIK-1. I set the output level in step 2 above to get about 65 dB at my listening position. With Dirac LE you'll have to check all the other channels and make sue none are registering too high.

Greetings from Pittsburgh. Just bought a new XPA-2 Gen 2 to replace my 43 year old Phase Linear 400 amp that finally bought the farm. From some of the signatures I've seen on this site it appears I'm a little more old school than others. I listen to mostly analog consisting of reel to reel and cassette tapes and vinyl LP's. I also have about 400 CD's and subscribe to TIDAL hifi. I've only had the XPA-2 Gen 2 for a few days so far but so far I'm quite impressed. Excellent clarity, crisp highs and very solid bass. I listen mostly to jazz, classical and classic rock (big collection of LP's and reel to reel tapes from 60's and 70's) from high school and college days. I spend a good part of my days and nights listening to music.
