Some of you may already be aware that Middle Atlantic makes racks/enclosures that fit the X series, and the UPA-7/LPA-1. The part number for those is: RSH4A5XX.
We have just sent in a UPA-2 to MIddle Atlantic as well, and the measurements for that will also fit the UMC-1, ERC-1, and a few other items as well.

Should fit the LMC-1 as well, right?

As far as dimensions the XPA-5 and XPA-5 are the same so it will fit. Gina JoJo Jones.

...thanks.
There are also some MA universal rack shelves that fit big components that take up most of the space anyway.
My Denon 5308CI fits tightly without a custom shelf.

FYI...
I used a universal MA rack shelf for my XPA-3. It fits well, but with a little bit of a gap.
I usually get my rack shelves at Full Compass. Here is a price quote for the XPA-3 RSH-4A custom rack shelf: "Custom Rack is $115.92 shipped"

How about the RSP-1 and RPA-1? Will they fit as well?

Instead of a $100+ custom rack shelf from Middle Atlantic, how about $20-30 rack ears for components from Emotiva...

I agree! Dealing with racks all day at work I have learned to hate shelves. Nothing better then a nice true rack mount item!
I thought I read that Emotiva stuff had rack ears avail? Did I read wrong? Matt

Finally a voice of reason thanks John your awesome. Vetteracer, no in fact it seems less and less of Emo products have rack ears. UMC does not, ERC does not, none of the current amps do. Just praying to God that the XMC-1 will, honestly if it doesnt it will greatly impact my buying decision sounds stupid I know, but it matters alot to me. It may be just me but it seems Emo is becoming less and less integrator/custom friendly and more for the mass market. Before it was great many of the products were rack mountable, had ir and rs232 inputs, phoenix connectors, published protocol for both as well, life was grand. Now we cant even get rack ears, or a ir input on the cd player, guess it would crazy to ask for bidirectional 232, maybe its me, or I am just a bit grumpy today.

OK stupid question time: Never having had an equipment rack, I wonder what holds up the rest of the component in a rack mount system. I assume the ears attach to the side of the unit at front and then attach flush to the rack. How do you support the back end? are there brackets that fit along the side-bottom of the unit? more brackets on the rear? What about some thing really heavy, like an amp, do you have to use a shelf for those? I feel really stupid with all these questions.

95% of the time nothing, just the ears and thats it. Occasionally you may run into a sob that simply needs something else. In that case generally that product if it is that heavy is integration friendly and includes rails that span from the front to the back and additonal support, i.e. some battery backups from tripplite (heavy suckers). If not there are a couple options that MAP offers as well, or if your really thrifty you can build something yourself. But nothing from Emo should need anything additional, I think one or two people from here were pretty "thrifty" and made something for support for the MPS, I think it gave them peice of mind.
Hope that answers your question ratmice.

yes, thanks. I'm just amazed that you can support something like that just from the ears alone. The ones I've seen on the web dont look terribly sturdy. Must be heavier gauge than they look.
