Want to thank everyone for answering my questions last week. I pulled the trigger last night on a new XSP-1 and the ERC-3. Wasn't sure about the ERC-3 but wanted one anyways. It will be replacing a Marantz CD6004 Player. Thought about the DC-1 DAC but I already own a Parasound ZDAC 2. I will be honest and say that I do feel like I might be taking a step down from my Parasound gear. EDIT*** See below what I mean*** Maybe not... I am excited to have a fully balanced system from CD player to Pre-map to my ATI 2000 balanced amp.

What do you mean a stepdown from Parasound? Just curious, as I moved away from Parasound with no regreat.

That in by no means is a negative towards Emotiva from my point of view. You just hear it in other forums and Emo doesn't get the respect it deserves. A lot of opinions put Parasound above Emotiva. If I felt the same I wouldn't have purchased my new XSP and ERC. I did have issue with some older EMO products but the CS was outstanding. Just put it this way. I have had issues with all three of my Parsound products.. They also have great CS. I am just tired of always sending it back for repair. It seems like every few months I am taking the system down to ship back and hooking up my stand by Marantz gear...

I didn't mean that you were implying anything negative towards emo, sorry if it felt that way. I was just asking out of curiosity from what parasound gear are you moving away from, because maybe we share similarities regarding equipment.

I own two products from them The P5 preamp and the Zdac 2. Just curious what problems you've had with the P5? This is a pre-amp I highly considered before lucking out and finding a deal that I just couldn't pass up at a local estate sale on a NAD pre.

I had the p3 and the jc2. The xsp-1 is closer in sound to the jc2. If you are used to the p5 sound you might find the sound of the xsp-1 "thin" but I would say that is because of the neutral nature of the xsp-1. The jc2 is even more neutral but its advantage is a more clear soundstage but at 5 times the price of the xsp-1 is not worth it IMO

Each time you use it you get static feedback through the speakers. I am not the only one who had issues. I sent mine back in and they replaced it. They had it a while to find out what was wrong. They also stepped up and gave me a free component for my troubles. Well it's failed again. I will send it back in but wanted to try out the Emotiva again. Both companies run fantastic CS.

That thin sound is what held me off for a long time. I hope it's not to thin.

That is gonna depend on your speakers. Don't forget to play around with the position of the speakers when you switch the preamp. Give your ears time to get used to the sound also

Give your ears time to get used to the sound also I own three sets of speakers I can use. Ascend Acoustics RAAL Towers RBH Sound SX-6300R Ascend Acoustics CMB170-E All three are fantastic but sound different. To be honest the biggest ones {RBH Sound} sit in the corner most of the time. I should sell them but shipping would be an issue. They are heavy.. My RAAL towers are the best of the bunch, but may revel everything the XSP throws at it.
