Looks like the Chinese manufacturer that made the XPA line for Emotiva has found a new retailer! I may have to pay more attention to Monoprice.

That thing looks bad ass. I like the minimalist styling. I don't think this is a re-badged XPA, however, as it has dual toroidal transformers. I think one of outlaw's amplifiers had this, could be a rebadged Outlaw 7700. $1500 is a killer price if that is the case.

With the higher price of the gen 3, this now becomes attractive to many.

I trust Emotiva. I've heard too many negative reviews of other Monoprice products to take a chance.

I trust Emotiva. I've heard too many negative reviews of other Monoprice products to take a chance. they offer the same 30 day money back if not satisfied just like many other companies, so, your not taking too much of a chance. I'm sure plenty of people have not been happy with emotiva stuff and have returned it with negative reviews too. the biggest difference is monoprice sells more stuff than emotiva as in a larger variety of stuff so yes, your more likely to see negative reviews about things. monoprice has a selections of network cables that are close to the number of every product emotiva makes and that's just network cables. keep in mind, many people buy things not truly knowing what the thing does meaning they have not researched what they need properly nor the capabilities of what they are buying properly either. when things don't go their way, they send it back and write bad reviews or posts about them. look through threads here and you see plenty of it; no different at monoprice. I say, give them a chance, the same way I'd say give emotiva a chance, with either, you've got 30 days to put it through the ringer. yes, this is coming from a happy emotiva product lover. they are not the only, best or worse and they have their place in the industry. remember, competition makes everyone stay up on their "A" game, no competition means we have to take what we get, period.

Manufactures and others talk about these risk free 30-day money back guarantees but just how much would you have to pay in return shipping on this 93 pound beast?

I love Monoprice. It's the only place I go to for cables. The difference here is that with audio products, you hope to buy it from an audio company that designed the product. I'm sure this is a fine amp but given my options, I'll buy from Emotiva over a merchant that is just an online distributer. It's personal preference...mine is Emotiva. Especially having met Big Dan, Lonnie, Damon and especially Jessica .

Monoprice Monolith ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ATI 1807 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you look at the specs as well, they sure seem to look very similar.

I love it.
Monoprice is an opportunistic retailer. That is, they look for every place in the market that has "traction" and then try to drop a product in it to take advantage of the "opportunity".
When the market shifts, they move on. I note that they now just started selling high performance bicycle wheels and water bottles for cyclists, and solar battery chargers too!! What's next? I'm not being critical, I'm just calling it what it is.
We're a dedicated speciality audio manufacturer with decades of expertise in the market. We've made a deep commitment to design, service, and support in this sector. Either this has some value to you, or it doesn't. That's up to you to decide.
They only reason they are in this market at the moment is because Morris at ATI dropped a model on them with minimal work and investment on their end. They saw an opportunity to disrupt. Good for him, good for them. Maybe good for you... today.
Call me in a couple of years and let's see how this has worked out for everyone. We'll still be here selling high value amplifiers, preamps, processors, speakers, subs, cables, DAC's, etc, etc., and taking care of our customers... and making serous investments in the products and the brand.
If I was an OEM customer of ATI, I'd be looking for a new suppler...
Game on!!

It's just an amplifier not a marriage. Many will try it, enjoy it for a while and try something else later. Just like those who try a Gen1, enjoy it, then try a Gen2, then try a Gen3. Then try the inevitable Gen4, Gen5's, and so on.
