XMC-1: Record In vs Analog In Differences?

Pretty straight forward, I was just curious what the difference was. I checked the manual and this forum and couldn't find answer. I had assumed that "record in" would not apply any dirac or EQ adjustments and was meant for fixed level input (like record out, which I'm loving so far for my headphone amp), however that wasn't the case (diraq and level adjustments worked). So any clues?

I'd have thought Record In was designed for tape playback input so should work exactly the same as any of the Analog inputs.
