I'm looking for some guidance. We recently moved into. Newer house that has living room, laundry room and kitchen all in one space. I'm just wondering if there are some tricks to isolate the sound coming from laundry room so we can hear tv? Laundry room has bifold doors

Yes, cover the doors to the laundry room with a mattress when you want to listen to your tv. That should block the sound from the laundry.
Another option would be to only do laundry when you are not watching tv.
One more option would be to fill the laundry room with Great Stuff foam. That's a good sound absorber, too. It would make doing laundry a little harder.

Try solid wood bifold doors and weather seal all around.

This situation sounds a lot like my home, and like you I thought this would be a problem. My high efficiency washer and dryer are very quiet and hardly notice them when washing/drying clothes.

Play something with a little washtub bass, and you won't even hear it.

This is something I never had to worry about in my other houses but it's definitely created a problem

Buy a soundproof door and get rid of the bi-folds...done! I have a similar situation. My dedicated room is downstairs with the laundry room. A soundproof door (not expensive) does the job.

I think trying to isolate the sound is the wrong approach. I would look at high efficiency, high SPL speakers, and a suitably powerful amp(s). Any extraneous sounds should easily be masked by this method, IMHO

Don't isolate and you can tell your wife the laundry will dry faster with a bigger sub ;o)

Just place a speaker inside the laundry room and tweak it's level to be 6dB higher than the rest of the speakers.

I have xpa5 run by xmc1 all cranking Emo's reference line including a svs pb13 sub. It's overkill but I don't like cranking it just for everyday tv but yet the laundry still has to get done (or so she says)
