I am looking into upgrading from my Studio-20 bookshelf speakers on stands. I would like to move to towers ... modest sized towers. Looking for more Bass extension and just like towers better.
Budget is $1500 or less hopefully. I want these to look nice in my living room so nothing that looks like a Flash Gordon spaceship.
Any suggestions?
Thx, Rob

Take a long hard look at Tekton designs. If you can expand your budget to 2k The Pendragon Seas is modestly sized (and amazing). There are lots of cheaper options too. They use a VIFA tweeter which sounds pretty darn great! The Tekton Enzo is right at your price range at $1600. The XL version of the enzo made stereophiles class A speakers. I think it's the cheapest speaker that is in there by like several thousands. "The Enzo XLs gave me 90% of the coherence and joy of my Class A reference speakers, along with at least one additional, deeply gratifying octave of big, live-sounding, pants-flapping, room-filling bass. Unbelievably, they also gave me something like 90% of the accuracy and authority I heard from Wilson Audio's "giant robots" back in the late '80s. Today, the average price of the speakers listed in "Class A–Full Range" of Stereophile's "Recommended Components" is over $56,000/pair. In that world, the $2100/pair Tekton Enzo XLs are practically free. Based on my reviewing experience, these practically free speakers will get you a satisfyingly big portion of those $50,000 models' performance. Consider this review a thoughtfully considered, heartfelt recommendation. These giant monoliths are great fun! There's even a guy selling his lore on the emporium for something nuts like $400 or something. www.tektondesign.com/products.htmlThe only downside...these aren't going to win any looks award.

ELAC is releasing a new line of speakers with coincidental drivers. Their entry level Debut line is spectacular so this new design should be even better.
