Heya, folks, new to the forums, and am hoping for some collective wisdom.
I was able to get one of the last re-certified XPR-2 (arriving tomorrow) and have ordered two REL S/5 subs to be run as a stereo pair with my Focal 1038Be's.
The local shop wasn't familiar with Emotiva, and asked me if I was sure that the Neutrik connectors would be compatible with the amplifier. They run three-wire to the amp for single sub, with yellow and red connecting to the positive terminals for L and R, respectively, and black to the negative terminal. For stereo, the R/Y are connected to the same positive terminal.
I haven't had any trouble running a single REL B3 on an XPA-5 for several years with the same connection type...
Any wisdom or caveats that I should be aware of?
Thanks!

First off.... assuming that you've been running everything that way with your XPA-5, then you shouldn't have any problem with the XPR-2. (The individual channel outputs and "grounding" are pretty much the same for both.) I should mention, though, that it is a bit unusual to be using speaker-level connections for a powered subwoofer with a setup this powerful (However, as I said, it should work fine.) It's a REL thing. I've loved the musicality of my little B3, and they follow the methodology all the way up to the G1. Here's the how/why from REL (and thanks for the quick reply) rel.net/support/rel-connectivity/

The Rel uses the Neutrik on the subwoofer end so it really isn't relevant to the Emotiva amp (or others for that matter). As you already know it is simply raw wire on the other end of the connector that needs to be connected to the proper binding posts. The only thing to be aware of is that if you get any kind of hum when connecting the subs to the amp binding posts, you may want to connect the black wire to a chassis screw and this should eliminate the issue.
