Hello all! I am having a real hard time with my set up. Here is my current equipment list: XMC- 1 XPA -5 Cambridge 850 Bluray SACD player Tyler Acoustics Halo 1s main Focal Aria 900 Bookshelfs rear surrounds Focal Aria center Monitor Audio SW 12 sub
I want my front channels to run full range because they are able to reach 25hz. They sound very thin in the bass, mid bass. I have them set to large. Am I missing something? These speakers used to sound amazing, now they sound terrible. Please help!

GAAAAH Those tyler acoustics are amazing looking!! I suspect you have set your Tyler Acoustics to "small" speakers. Set them to "large" and then turn of DIRAC room correction. (go direct mode).

Ok, large it is. Bass management on or off? I'm losing my mind. This is my first go with a processor like this. Operating all the filters is super confusing. I don't really understand how everything works. I'm coming from a Cambridge Audio 751 receiver that was super simple to set up. I haven't ran the Dirac yet. Waiting till the kids go to bed so I have complete quiet in the listening room. I appreciate any help you guys can give me.

I would guess turn off bass management. But honestly you would do better with help from other people in the lounge like novisnick or klinemj or geebo they own the XMC-1 and I don't know the technical terms for these things.

Setting them to large will make the XMC pass the full range signal to those speakers. If you turn on Enhanced Bass then LFE below 80Hz will be sent to both the sub(s) and the large speakers. I would start with Enhanced Bass off then run Dirac and see what you get. Note that with the stock mic and cal file I felt the bass was on the weak side after running Dirac. Getting a calibrated UMIK and the full version of Dirac was one of the best purchases I've made.

And if you select Reference Mode everything is bypassed with the possible exception of the channel levels so if you want to hear an unaltered signal try Reference Mode.

I can't find a lot of details on what controls your sub has, but...I see it is triggered...and I presume it is kicking on when you play your system...correct? Have you set levels and know it's at least playing when you run a test tone through it and is at sufficient volume when test tones play?
Also...when you are listening and say it is sounding "thin"...how are you listening? Multichannel? 2 channel? What mode?

So... I ran Dirac last night. I didn't realize that I needed to set my speakers for each preset. I though preset 1 would carry over to Dirac. Things are sounding much better now! Do you have any recommendations for setting sub levels? Do you turn up the volume and control from the xmc? Do I leave low pass filter off or set x-over manually on the sub itself?? Thanks for all the help!
