I have a Emotiva C12 in my rack. Purchased new from Emotiva. I recently purchased a used Sherbourn C12. There Sherbourn did not come with the 3.5mm temperature probe. Does anyone know how I could find, build, build a replacement? The probe that came with the Emotiva unit appears to just be a 3.5mm cord with a sensor/resistor at the end. I was curious if something like this could be used with a 3.5mm cord? Temperature probe

That looks very similar to what is used on my coolerguys temp activated fans.

For $7 it may be worth a try. I have some Coolerguys temp probes too (all being used) and I took a look at them. Heck, I could cannibalize some of my old fans that aren't used anymore and get a probe off one of them. Just thought I'd ask here first.
Thanks for your input.

If the Sherbourn C-12 is sitting on top of what needs to be cooled, you don't need the probe. Just use the switch on the back of the unit to set it to high or low temp auto on. Works great for my units. If you zoom in on the bottom of the unit you will see at the top middle next to the screw that there is a heat sensor there.

I simply opened the unit, spliced in a length of wire in the internal sensor harness and fed it out through the hole in the bottom of the unit. Worked very well.

Ahhhh, I wasn't aware there was another heat sensor inside/on the unit. The Emotiva C12 unit I have is on top of my XPR-2 and I have the external heat sensor plugged in and just sitting on top of the XPR-2 amp. Guess I don't even need to do that. The Sherbourn C12 is sitting on the XPA-5 amp I am hoping to keep cool, so I will simply leave the C12 on the "auto' setting and let the internal sensor take care of the rest. Thank you for the help!!!

***EDIT I didn't see the two posts above prior to this posting. I'm guessing neither of my units have the internal sensors***
Sooooo. During the Super Bowl I unplugged the 3.5mm temp sensor. The Emotiva C12 sitting on top of my XPR-2 never turned on. After two hours I went and plugged the sensor back in and the unit kicked on right away. The Cherbourg on the XPA-5 never kicked on either, but the XPA-5 wasn't running nearly as hot. Any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong with the Emotiva C12 on the XPR that didn't turn on?

Did you look at my picture posted earlier? Did you enlarge it and see the little knob next to the screw at the top center? Do you have the manual to your unit? please see my next post.
