I can't seem to get my XMC to work well with my URC setup; specifically, I cant get it to accept commands from my RF base station via the "IR in" jack in the back.
I've tried every combination of mono, stero, and even a mno/stero 3.5mm cable along with various combinations of toggelling the "fron ir in" and "front blaster" boxes
any one have any ideas?

does it work at all? I've had it not work and found some other device IR was interfering. I would call URC they are easy to get and very helpful. I called them with problems on an old unit I got off ebay and they helped me resolve almost the same issue. Good Luck

Using IR with line of sight works fine; just can't get anything to pass through the RF base station. The XMC power button will flash, so it does sense input from the base station - the unit just doesn't perform anything
I sent off emails to both Emo & URC, but figure I'd try the boards over the weekend 'till I hear back.
How'd you fix your problem??

Does the base station you have emit IR codes? If not, it would seem as the IR code is coming from the actual remote and not the base station. I can't speak for URC specifically, but I know that some remotes have the option of emitting the code from the remote itself or from the base station typically using an IR flasher. If the remote is sending out the code, then it may not be being sent out via the base station. I would check this in the settings of your programming. Another way you can test this is if you have an IR flasher, you can swap it out for the mini cable and put it on the IR sensor of the XMC-1 and see if it works.

Sorry - should have mentioned I tried that allready: it will work with a flasher.

Sorry - should have mentioned I tried that allready: it will work with a flasher. My Harmony remote works fine with the IR in at the back of the XMC. Have you disabled the front IR sensor in the setup menu?

I have the URC with an RF base station. As jlafrenz said above, confirm that the unit number is set correctly in your URC control software. Also as geebo said, disable the front IR sensor in the XMC-1 menu OR sending IR from the remote in the URC software. I have my IR set to ON because I need that to control the projector (which I do by simply pointing the remote at the screen - it reflects the IR signal back to the projector which is located behind the viewing position). Lastly, check the cable connections on the IR relay box and the base station.

Thanks Hemster -
- what do you mean by "unit number"? I have my base station (MRF-350) configured to send commands as "RF only" - I have disabled the "front IR in" - I know all the cables work fine, since when I hook up my Anthem it works fine
I've recreated my URC-MRX 880 template just in case there was something screwy, but nada.

In the software there's something like unit number (sorry, I'm traveling and don't have access to my copy). What it does it allows you to select from multiple base stations. The default is 1 for the first (and often, only) station but verify this to be sure. If you don't have that in your software version, then ignore this point.
Do you see the light flash on the base station when sending commands via RF?

Yup - light flashes on the base station, and the power button on the Emo also shimmers. Just nothing get transmitted. When I use a IR flasher instead of the IR input, it works.

So that rules out a lot of variables. Last thing, check the level setting of the IR output on the base station. It's a rotary control. Could be set too low.. or too high! Try setting it in the middle (12 o'clock position).
If still no go, try a different IR output from the base station... just in case.
If all above is futile, maybe the IR input on the XMC is kaput (technical term!). Suggest calling Emotiva support Monday morning.

yeah - sadly had gone though all that without success.
The Emo does seem to be receiving commands via Rf - the power button shimmers indicating its sensing something - it just doesnt act on any of them.
I'll see what emo and urc have to say

In my experience if the XMC-1 power button flickers, but doesn't do anything, then it doesn't know what to do with the code it received. I noticed this when the latest codes were released, some were wrong. However in my case most codes worked, only a few failed, if nothing works that's less likely the problem.

Do you have a RF Rx light on your base station? For me if I put my RF Rx module close to the xmc-1 the RX light is dimly lit indicating RF interference. Moved it away from the xmc-1 and it works fine again.

Yup - checked that. Moved the Rx-250 away to make sure no interference. Still nothing
I ended up sending the unit in, after talking to their rep.

Just an update - Emo replaced the board still same issue.
URC customer support for the end user is terrible - they never replied to any emails.
Ended up being a simple issue: I had set too many repeats. Dropped it from '3' to '1' and it's all good
