They called me yesterday and said unplug it for 30 mins to do a hard reset. It didn't work so I got another email telling me my warranty number and to ship it back. This is gonna be awesome. Trying to move this 100+ pound monster up the stairs and to get it shipped.
I'm also thinking about getting two more seatons as well. I am going atmos and was thinking about getting an XPA-7 but I'll see how painful this process is?

I hope I'm not down too long at least it didn't happen before the Super Bowl.

The biggest trouble with this is. That the amp weighs a lot. So no matter, shipping will be expensive. I'm not picking on Emo. We all take a chance when buying ANYTHING. Things happen and things break. But for $109.00 I would just bring mine to a local tech and pay him to fix it who cares about a warranty if it cost $109.00 plus the time to pack it up drive to Fed Ex or UPS and ship it. To tell you the truth it is not the expense of shipping that would bother me it is the hassle of all that goes into it. I know, I had my eyes wide open when ordering from a on line retailer. Keep us informed as what happens with your amp. Good luck I'm sure you will be well taken care of.

That is my only complaint about Emotiva. If you need warranty service it is expensive because of the shipping. There is a chance that paying for service at a local shop might be cheaper than the shipping and quicker. They need to put together a list of authorized service centers for warranty repairs like a lot of other electronic company's have.

It was a pain and a hassle plus I have to decide if I want to continue this ID route.

They need to put together a list of authorized service centers for warranty repairs like a lot of other electronic company's have. That is a great idea and I have seen it happen before when I worked for a Consumer Packaged Goods company I spoke to a friend of mine that bought a Denon that had issues within the warranty period and he didn't have to pay for shipping either way. Since the company is evolving and now selling through dealers the warranty and service may need to adapt as well.

To Tell you the truth I think if it was something lite weight it would not be so bad. But a 86lb amp is a pain. Not to mention the boxes. You have to save the boxes so if you ever need them you have them. Two of mine got wet and were ruined. Plus you have to keep them kicking around some ware. Like I said small stuff is not bad.
My closest HiFi shop is a 4 hour drive (they sell Emo stuff now). I bought my Rega Turn Table there. And it was great. Even though I DO like Emotiva, and I have some of their other products that work great. I think in the future for amps and heavy items I will take the drive to the brick and mortar store. For me it is just as easy to put something in the car, grab my wife and take the drive. Besides I can check out guitar shops along the way.

SVS gives you "free" shipping both ways if you decide you dislike the product but that expense was just added into the overall price somehow. I had an HSU subwoofer that I didn't like and that 30 day demo cost me $120 to return. The cost of shipping an amp back to Emotiva is a pricy adventure that is unrealized until the need arises. I agree that I have also been rethinking my approach to using internet direct company's due to the unrealized cost when you might have to return a product. As far as excellent warranty coverage, it seems a little less special when you have to pay so much to get it back to the manufacture to be serviced. Just think if your new car warranty cost you $100 each time a service technician looked at it if something was wrong. You probably are not going to buy that car due to that expense.

I was wondering about how the warranty works if you buy from a store. Do they just tell YOU to ship it back to Emotiva. Do they give you a new one, Or do they ship it back for you? It may depend on the store itself. Just a thought.

I feel your pain. I have invested in several Emo products and want another SA-250 but I've decided to to see how they hold up over the years. I bought a Caver MXR150 receiver back in 1989 and it went 22 years w/o an issue. It was from use and needed a new speaker relay and I decided to have the power supply and tone control caps replaced and then gave it to my son who is giving it a good workout.
I definitely agree that they need authorized, local repair shops. Especially now that they are moving to brick and mortar stores.
Good Luck with your amp.

i got the email from Emotive and they said minimum 10-12 business days but it may be longer because they are changing there workflow in the shop. So i am looking at 3 weeks to a month to get it back. That kind of stinks but i guess it is what it is...
