My pure speculation: the design has been modified, like the XMC-1, to have Atmos, so it's still in the works. Just my guess; I have no insider knowledge but I think a $1k processor without Atmos now may not sell well, so they've tweaked it. Would be nice if true, but even if not, it will be an excellent product so I'm not concerned either way. Flame away for me speculating, but I was bored..

I believe that it originally only had 4 HDMI, possibly the revamped it to have 6 HDMI likee the BaseX processor

Mark Weren't there prototypes at CES? I thought that I saw a picture of a EMP-1, with workng display. |

Yes there were. But there was no quoted timing and still has not been a firm statement. Last I recall, they said something about it being approved for production or development complete and would be coming along after the other things I mentioned.

Mark You could be right, but as I would not call the Atmos enhancement for the XMC-1 'going back to the drawing board', nor would I call it that for adding it to the EMP-1. I'd call it an enhancement, not starting over. I also doubt we are that 'close' based on the silence. The new products they have put on the sight were still at least a month before actually shipping. I'd call the MC-700 'close' and it isn't even formally on the site, let alone a date. I expect we will have a bit more to wait for the EMP1. And to be VERY clear, I am neither saying nor implying Emo is late. |

I really doubt Atmos for the EMP-1. I personally also don´t Need it and wouldn´t want to pay for this Feature.
More HDMI will most likely happen, it wouldn´t make any sense to offer less ports than with the MC-700. I hope for alle HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2 ports, not only 1 or 2 and built in Bluetooth / WLAN.

Well it's next next and almost next month did ya find anything yet, prob no new processors from Emotiva this year , I ended up buying my buddies 7020c4 from him as I have been borrowing it since last December haha and felt bad so I'm good for now, I still want the EMP-1 but not in the cards at the moment or prob for some time as we have become financially strapped, just wondering what you ended up with or anything for that matter ? The unit was all but finished and after taking a very hard look at it, we decided it just wouldn't sell without Atmos. Sa back to the drawing board for the DSP section we went. We believe that we will be able to get the Atmos implementation into a single DSP which to date has not been done. So it should be really cool. Lonnie |

I just want the processor to correctly and continuously convert multichannel to 2 ch for my enjoyment. |

For myself and I'm sure many out there my room is simply too small for more speakers, I guess one really doesn't need to use the extra channels but I'm not overly excited if I have to pay for more that i will never use, I really liked the Dirac room correction and was excited when I heard of a sub $1000 processor with it but that was last December it was announced and now who knows when because of Atmos and such, but I do understand Emotiva's perspective is a higher amount of buyers want the latest offerings for formats.
