As some of you know from another thread (http://emotivalounge.proboards.com/thread/45752/powering-802-d2s?page=4&scrollTo=801544), I just recently upgraded my surround system. Now I'm ready to put it through its paces to see what it can really do. I'm thinking I'll either do Gravity or Interstellar tonight.
What are your top movies to show off your surround system's audio capabilities?

Its only 5.1, but still me go to when doing a demo. Tony |

transformers! Talk about great sound! garbulky, I know I'm the only person on the planet who thinks otherwise, but I just don't think it was all that. Saw it in the theater and on Blu-ray at my house and was less than impressed both times. Perhaps my feelings for the movie itself cloud my judgement (I think the movie sucks), but I just really thought it could have been more. brockjon, I don't really have an entire go to movie, but I do have a few go to scenes. The train crash scene in Super 8 will knock you over. The military scenes near the end are pretty bombastic also. But that train scene is balls to the walls. I also like the mine scene in the Lord of the Rings Fellowship of the Ring. All is pin drop quiet until the bucket falls down the well, then for the next 10 or 15 minutes it's a surround sound extravaganza. From the cave troll to all the arrows flying around to the Balrog and the "THOU SHALL NOT PASS!" It's also a great scene for video. When the alien things shoot their beams in War of the Worlds, that's a revelation. Movie sucks, but those big loud WHHHHAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!! things are amazing. It's the only thing to ever make my receiver go into protection mode (before I had Emotiva amps. Oh, and get yourself something with the new Dolby Deep Note intro. I know the new Indiana Jones movies have it. It's awesome, even better than the original. There are just so many, but right off the top would be SPECTRE, Blade Runner(the Final Cut), Captain America: The Winter Soldier, The Dark Night Trilogy, Underworld series, Jurassic Park movies, Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol and Rogue Nation, LOTR Trilogy extended edition, the two new Star Trek movies, both Thor movies, Wanted, X-Men: Days of Future Past(Rogue cut), John Wick, The Last Stand, etc., etc., etc.
