I don't think these are hardware failures. Software resilience is about as important as hardware resilience, but is often overlooked as a factor to improve a system's availability. Fair enough, but even most Enterprise systems have very little SW resilience above the OS layer. To be clear, I'm talking about Oracle DB servers, just running and running. I know it would be unfair to expect the same from consumer products, but just thinking a reboot every day or so is good enough? No, Sir! Not for me. "Every day or so" would be a bit much. Who's having to do that? They might want to put a call in to Emotiva.

If I do a full power down with the front power button, my OSD disappears until I do a hard reset from the back. Anyone else notice this behavior?

Do you go to stand by or full power down? Full power down to an amber power light. Not using Video on Standby. I use standby, when the power button on remote or xmc is held down for 5 seconds the unit goes into full shutdown. This is when I lose my OSD, while going to stand by everything behaves as it should.

Video on Standby has a purple light, right? I shut down to an amber light. It then takes 45 seconds to start back up from that state. Never have had any issues with the OSD.

This is when I lose my OSD, while going to stand by everything behaves as it should. If you are using "Video on Standby" and hold the Standby button down for several seconds, the XMC-1 will fully shut down. This is normal behavior and has been this way since the 3.1 firmware was released. From the 3.1 change log... " When you are in Video Remains On Standby (high-power standby) you can turn the XMC-1 fully off by pressing and holding the Standby button for several seconds - like a computer. (This works for both the Front Panel Standby button and the button on the remote control.)" Hope this helps...

I know this, when I do this my OSD will not return until a full reset at the back switch is done

Just I came to notice, my XMC-1 is showing all the formats are PCM 5.1. yesterday I was restored factory settings on my XMC-1. Previously there was no problem. I already updated 4.1 firmware version. Mine was original Board 1.4b. kindly guide me. I tried again and again in my unit settings and my OPPO BDP-103 settings. But no use.

Also checked all input setups and player outputs. Checked multiple Blu-rays. It's showing only PCM 5.1, not Dolby or DTS display. Till the date no problem with my lovely XMC-1. Just today only displaying like that, no problem in sound and video. Only problem with signal of DTS and Dolby on display. Can I reset again or any other way..

Any suggestions about split audio from 103 to XMC.. mean, one cable given direct to projector and 2nd HDMI to XMC for Audio..?
