My Son streams music though his Ipad and it sounds pretty good. I was thinking about giving it to try. I have a USB on the front of my Marantz CD6005 to plug it into. It is the same DAC as Marantz HD-DAC-1 (CS4398) That is their stand alone headphone DAC unit. Does any one stream though their Ipad? And if not why not?
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but since it is not my forte I'm a little ignorant on this. Any advise would be great. Thanks. Tony

I don't see why not. Basically the same set up as an iphone or ipod. I use mine hooked up to my home stereos via a Pure i20 dock. This dock has optical toslink output so you get good sound. They sell for about $100. I have them going through my XDA-2's. I have never used the actual USB hookup though.

I sometimes stream over airplay through my Apple TV, so this way the Dac in my AVR gets used.

No because I own an Astell & Kern AK240, which already has its own built-in WiFi streaming so no need for an iPad or anything like that.

All my music on the iPad is in lossless format and I stream it to an Airport Express and optical out to a Musical Fidelity DAC which feeds it to the XMC-1.

I use Tidal streaming to my airport express via airplay and then on to my XDA 1. Sounds excellent.

Yep, Amazon music using an iPad Mini and Apple TV via Toslink to an XDA-2 and out to a pair of Airmotiv 6s.

If you prefer CD quality, Tidal is the way to go.
ipad, iphone or android>airport express or apple tv (via Airplay)>dac>system
Note that airport express outputs 44.1 where apple tv upsamples to 48
Little if any audible difference, according to many listeners

I use an iPod to play upgraded Pandora through a Cambridge ID100 Dock which delivers the digita signal vial coax, toslink, or AES to my Emotiva DC-1. I use it a lot because it is convenient and sounds great.

Apple DACs (in ALL their products) are better by orders of magnitude than the DACs in PCs. I wouldn't call them "audiophile quality," but they're good enough to be used for all but the most critical of listening. Enjoy your iPod, iPad, Mac, or iPhone!

I have TIDAL and use my iPad and APPLE TV to stream all of my music. Tidal offers 25,000,000 songs at CD quality and thousands of videos plus cataloging your favorites with great graphics and you can also make a variety of playlists. Of course TIDAL is not for everyone but they offer a FREE 30day trial. If you are a veteran there is a substantial discount.
