I am curious as to the optimal or recommended volume setting for the dac. It is plugged into a sunfire preamp. Should I be using the volume on the preamp and leave the dac at  Volume level? |

Xda-1 shoukd be left at max level. It uses a digital volume so you lose resolution at less than max.
Use the pre-amp volume.

+1. When used with a preamp or processor it's best set to max (80).
