I just bought an XMC-1 and have been looking in vain for PL2 music settings such as panorama and center width. Anyone know where they are?
Thanks.

There is no way to change the parameters on the XMC-1.

There is no way to change the parameters on the XMC-1. Wow. This is standard, vanilla implementation of PL2 music on every AVR I've ever owned. This may be a deal breaker for me and may send me to the Minidsp.

Tony - you'll never miss it.
I had it on my old Denon AVR-4311, and sound is SO, SO MUCH BETTER with the XMC-1. Discounting the XMC-1 for this is like discounting a Porsche because of its cup holders.

Occasionally I like to change the parameters and I don't understand why they took it out. I'll give them a call on Monday and ask. Thanks for the response.

I remember the UMC-200 having these settings and initially playing with their settings. After the first try I forgot about them and remember thinking they did nothing much for me sound-wise. As for the XMC-1, it doesn't have these settings as far as I know, and I'd doubt Emotiva would incorporate them in the future if they aren't already in the Menu. Do come back and update us after you've talked with them Monday, maybe we've all overlooked them and just didn't notice.

You can change the parameters for Dolby PLIIx Music on the XMC-1. When in that mode, navigate to:
Menu > Main Zone > Surround Mode > Dolby PLIIx Music and you can change Panorama, Dimension, and Center Width.

Use Dirac and forget about shitty ol PL2 I didn't realize that Dirac generated 5.1 surround sound from 2.0 music sources. Could you let me know how to access this feature? Thanks!

BTW, for the OP, the manual should be downloadable on the product page. IIRC, there's a separate manual for Dirac, as well.

It doesn't seem to retain settings when you turn the XMC-1 off but they are there! It is set up as follows: Panorama off, Center Width 3, Dimension -3. I think standard is Dimension 0 so that's a little odd, but they're there.

I also tried with a 5.1 source since DPIIx derives 7.1 from a 5.1 source. It however doesn't give these parameters for 5.1 sources, just 2.0.
