I'm thinking of ordering an XMC-1 as I feel the modular design is the right way to go. However, would it be possible to self upgrade to the HDMI 2.0 board or are there any approved upgrade people in the UK?
I've build a few PC's/HTPC's and FreeNAS boxes so I know my way round simple boards. I'd worry about the warranty though.

Hi,
The word is that Emotiva would like to do the upgrade at one of their facilities but you can do it yourself . It is important to note that if you bugger it all repairs will be on your dime. With that said if you built a pc or 2 then you should be fine. I will be doing my own , I repaired a few plasma TV's so I feel comfortable doing it.

The upgrade looks straightforward and if you are used to board handling and plugging you should have no problems. Take a look at photo 5 on the Emotiva XMC-1 page and you can see how the board is connected.

Thanks, I see from photo 5 it looks fairly simple. Famous last words though!
