I currently have an Emotiva XDA-1 DAC. Wondering If I should buy and ERC-3 ~$400 or go a little less $ and pick up an ERC-1 or 2?
I am also using an Emotiva XPA-2 with a Sunfire Theater Grand IV.
Looking to get the best bang for my $$$$

The ERC's are, IMO, quite nice CD players which sound good with their respective DAC's. I will say however, if you are going to use your favorite outboard DAC, then just about any decent CD transport will do. Personally I'm still using an older Sony ES line model with an Emotiva Stealth DC-1, because the features that is has.

I would take it a step further and say any disc spinner will present the digital info. If you are trying to minimize the amount of money you spend, and you are going to run it through an external dac you already own, then I would check out the CD, DVD, or Blu ray players at your favourite discount electronics store and choose the one that seems to be reasonable build quality at the lowest price. the emotiva ERC players appear to be very nice cdp's of excellent build quality at a reasonable cost. You would not need to run one through an external XDA-1 though. Most people can not reliably distinguish between different DAC's in blind listening tests anyways.
