Good afternoon all, My XMC-1 has worked great for several months now. When I turned my system on earlier today, audio through hdmi was gone. Analog 5.1 is fine. I have tried 3 different Hdmi cables, rebooted the machine and tried different hdmi inputs on the xmc. I have two different sources: computer audio and directv both of which run hdmi through an Oppo 105D (front hdmi in and back hdmi in). I use split av on the Oppo so hdmi out 1 from Oppo goes directly to the Panasonic ZT65 and hdmi out 2 from Oppo goes to XMC. All was perfect until this morning. I had made no configuration changes until turn on this morning. Thanks very much for your troubleshooting suggestions! jjk43

So, it seems you have focused a lot on the XMC and lines into it. What is in the chain after the XMC and what have you checked on it?

^^^ What he said. HDMI splitters are usually problematic even with short cable runs. Add longer runs of cable and it increases the frustration levels. Having three machines all trying to negotiate a handshake doesn't work well in my experience.

Thanks very much to everyone who answered. Oppo was current. XMC was current. Cable runs were 4 feet or less. Chain after XMC was direct to multichannel amp. Have to have the Oppo in the chain for Darbee! Once you've tried it you'll never go back! And, ya gotta like the E9018 Sabre DAC... I do run analog from Oppo after Dirac Live from the PC. Hdmi for TV and bluray. I tried going directly from Directv to XMC and this worked as the audio was good. I then surmised that Oppo was the problem so I rebooted the Oppo and that solved the problem. Hdmi handshake is a piece of work isn't it? All good now and thanks again for all the great suggestions. jjk43
