I've had an XMC-1 for about 6 months. My unit arrived with the 3.0 firmware, but the 3.1 update came out soon after and I applied it right away.
I have 3 sources connected to the XMC-1. A Roku 3, which uses HDMI for audio and video; an old Squeezebox, which is audio-only and is connected to one of the coax inputs; and a Chromecast, which is another HDMI device.
From all 3 of these sources I get these strange clicks (the sound is a lot like a BB dropped a short distance onto a plastic membrane - somewhere between a click and pop). They happen between tracks on the Squeezebox, and also when I pause or resume playing. On the Roku they happen whenever I move the selection around with the remote - the Roku plays a sound when you do this, and there are clicks on both ends of that sound, every time.
The Squeezebox is set up for gapless playback, and does not turn off its audio outputs between tracks or when it's paused. My previous processor (a Lexicon MC-8) had nothing like these strange clicks, and the configuration of the Squeezebox hasn't changed since then.
Changing the preset from Dirac to one of the other two presets has some effect on the volume of the clicks, but doesn't get rid of them.
Changing the mode from stereo -> PLII -> Neo6 doesn't make much difference either. The clicks are very faint in direct mode, but still there.
This sounds similar to some of the things people were talking about before the 3.1 firmware came out, but the new firmware didn't fix them, at least for me. Is anyone else experiencing this?
