Hi all,
Much to my wife's disgust I finally upgraded my beloved Rotel RSP 1570 and moved into the 2015's with my almost new (pre loved) 1 year old XMC-1!
What a fantastic unit this is, the dacs are awesome and slick sounding so much detail and presence, really make my Dynaudio C S3.4s come alive! A huge step up from the Rotel and I thought that was a great unit.
I spent some time configuring the unit and customizing it for my HT/2ch set up and my 3 subs (thats another whole story) I haven't gone down the Dirac pathway yet, I thought I would just get it set up in basic mode first and test drive it for a while.
The only little quirk so far is sometimes ( and its only happened 2 or 3 times) it wont come out of standby and just freezes and it requires a hard restart with the on/off switch at the back. This is with video standby "on". Not sure if this is a common issue?
Other than that I'm lovin this thing!
Cheers

At least from my experience I would say that is not a common issue right out of the box, or period. I would call, not email Emotiva tomorrow. More than likely they will take care of you in a way that would be far less cumbersome than the same situation with Rotel.. That should curb some of your wife's concerns. Anytime I have had something come up they have taken care of the situation. And no that hasn't been a common experience... Meaning my stuff has been solid.

Could be the firmware that is causing the freezes. Sorry about the XMC-1 doing that. Please contact Emotiva Support, and they'll take great care of your XMC-1. You may want too enquire about the firmware too.

Oz...hmmm good luck with that one my friend...unless they can tell you what board it is thats suspected and they can send you with your or someone local to help you replace it, then its shipping back to USA, or live with it. Firmware should be updated however to the V3.1 release as there were some issues that IR use had with systems locking up (IIRC). Have 2 units and seldom have any issues, but normally a power off and on at the rear solves most things.

Make sure you have the latest V3.1. Emotiva did not update the version number when fixing the IR remote issue. Or just reload the latest firmware from the website. You should be fine.

It sounds like another ECC board failure. Several have had this problem. Better give them a call.

Russ Thanks for the advice, I will give that a go and see if it fixes the issue which is now becoming much more frequent, the unit is becoming unresponsive a few times a day now and sometimes it will bring up a rectangular window on the tv with just a frozen cursor in it!

I hope that's not what it is but it sounds like it . If it is any consolation, since getting the board replaced on my unit it has been functioning flawlessly.

Yes, I agree, my own unit is flawless except for a few seconds when the bell flashes on/ off on startup. The latter is probably just the hdmi latching on the signal , never happens afterward changing sources etc. Mel

The latter is probably just the hdmi latching on the signal , never happens afterward changing sources etc. Mel I added a slight delay in the startup so that the video comes on first and waits 5 sec then the rest comes on and no issues with HDMI sync ever after that. Of course once I upgrade my display I'll be back to finding the best start up sequence again since we all know HDMI is the work of the devil.
