I am preparing to download and run DIRAC Full for the first time today. So far, the only thing I am unsure of is the settings on the back of the sub. I have the crossover switch set to 'OUT' as to let Dirac/XMC-1 control that aspect. With it switched to this setting, from my understanding, the crossover adjustment knob on the back of the sub now has no relevance no matter what it is turned to, correct? Also, how should the Q control and volume be set prior to running Dirac?

In general, set the Gain control near the center (or set it so the sub is playing at more or less the correct level before running Dirac). Crossover should be "out" (for people with subs whose crossover cannot be disabled - set it to its highest frequency). As for the Q settings... I would follow the manufacturer's instructions based on room size and how loud you like to listen to things. NOTE: Since SVS says that certain EQ settings could actually damage the sub if used with both ports open, and Dirac may apply EQ boost to achieve flat response, I would NOT operate the sub with both ports open. Alternately, call up SVS, and tell them that "you want to run the sub itself flat and use external room correction in your pre/pro" - and follow their recommendations. Personally, I prefer a sealed box response, so I would always leave both plugs IN, and I would probably set Q to its lowest setting. Thank you gentleman for your help. Gus4Emo, I perused the manual again and found the information. My initial time through I obviously hadn't been very observant. Thank you.

Thank you. -Jace If you're still tweaking things, here is a nice review, with charts for all the listening modes, that might be helpful. Depending on what frequency you're going to cross the sub to mains in the XMC-1, the frequency response charts will at least give you the output of the sub itself; comparing this to the measured in-room response might give you an idea how to get the best pre-Dirac response, so that it doesn't have to boost/cut as much to get things to flat, or to your chosen "house curve", if you go that route. stereos.about.com/od/reviewsandrecommendations/ss/Hsu-Research-VTF-15H-Mk2-Review.htm#step4(No, I don't own a VTF-15H MK2; yes, it's on my short-list to replace my Hsu-designed Outlaw LFM-1...hence the research material =)
