Hi all, Im new here and have never made a post. I tend to just read a lot of posts and never reply, It started back in Late February this year as i acquired an XPA-2 from a classified add. I purchased the amp and have really enjoyed it for the short while i have had it. Actually ive enjoyed it so much that i went and picked up my twins this am from Toronto! I am a neighbor from the north. Here are my new twins, just arrived home....... sorry cant figure out this picture attachment dealio......wanted to add other twins pic! My question is for people who have XPA-1 gen 2's.......How has your initial thoughts of sound quality changed as the amps have been used? Do you think they got better with certain hours of use? Or do you think they still sound the same? I went out after getting the XPA-2 and purchased a set of Klipsch rp-280f. These are not even broken in yet so im thinkin it may sound a little bright at first until each of the amps and speakers get broken in a little bit. I guess just let me know if you are happy or not with these brutes! Well thanks all for sharing (hopefully you do)........ts no time to ignite these bad boys and give them some juice! I will let you all know my initial first impressions. Once again thanks. Vinniemac ..........sorry bout the messy post.....tryin to figure all this out in a hurry!

Welcome to the forum. Congrats on your new arrivals. I don't own the Gen 2's but I have a pair of Gen 1's and they sound fantastic. I had a Gen 1 in my possession for about five months and could not really tell a difference when they were set up in HT for my front three speakers, other than when operating in Class A the Gen 2 warmed up quite a bit. I have nothing but good things to say for either generation of XPA-1 amp, Emotiva hit a home run with these. I have lots of Klipsch in my house and have tried pretty much the whole corral paired with the XPA-1's. I think you will really enjoy the pairing of the Klipsch with the XPA's. I did find the RP-280's a bit bright but I lean towards the three way Klipsch myself so that may be all it was with me. From a fellow Canadian, I hope you really enjoy the amps!

Congratulations. I'm sure you will love them.
I'm amazed how good the boxes look. It must not have been UPS delivery. My boxes always are beat to crap with dents, scrapes and holes on every side.

Tim I am a little worried about that brightness, as it does get a little fatiguing, I bought the rp's on a wim.......(ouch)......have been back and forth on the fence about them. Saving grace......i do own a couple of other pairs of paradigms but am in the market for a nice set of 3way floorstanders. First Impressions, so far i like the depth now compared to the xpa-2......the spacing and timing are 100% improved as well. Volume is not very loud as i treat my twins very well!! Thanks for the kind words and i look forward to talking with some like amped peoples. Vinniemac

As a proud daddy of twins too, congrautlations on your new arrivals! I can promise you huge heapings of enjoyment. Just a warning the class A produces a good amount of heat and coincidentally sounds great.
I turn them to class AB switch when not in use because it really is a fierce amount of heat. But I turn them on to class A sometime before I give it a good listening session. I also find it gel well with a DC-1 in fully balanced mode. Good synergy imo. You won't regret your purchase! Yay!

First welcome to the lounge.
I'm an owner of a pair of XPA-1 gen 1 since 5 years and I enjoyed every minutes of listening them since they are new to now, I never had at anytime the idea or the need to change them, I think that they are here to last.
You found that your Klipsch are a little on the bright side, I personally never appreciated the Klipsch for this exact reason, it's the results of the horn tweeter dispersion type I think, but as you know it's only a matter of tastes and a lot of people really appreciate Klipsch speakers.
Keep enjoying listening music, you have great pieces of music gears with your new amps.

I have had Klipsch RF-7iis for about 4 years. I never thought that they sounded bright, but of course I have only been listening to the Klipsch sound so can't compare to anything else. I think it depends on what you are used to hearing. If you never have tasted ice cream or driven a Ferrari you don't know what you are missing. I have all Klipsch speakers in my surround system. I went through most of the other reference speakers before I got to the price limit I couldn't go beyond. I will gladly take donations to be able to get Palladium speakers and will even do a review of them for forum members if I get enough money to purchase them.

I still prefer the Heritage line though. I still think the Heresy, Forte, Chorus, Cornwall, La Scala, Belles and K-Horns are all superior in sound to the reference line. Like yourself, I think it has a lot to do with what you have become accustomed to. I prefer the three way designs as the mids seem to smooth out any harshness from the tweeters and to me it brings out a better sound stage. Tim

Discount card is only for processors like the UMC-1, UMC-200, XMC-1 or any future processor. 40% off. Not for anything else (like the amps).

The XSP-1 G2 makes all amps sound better.
Speaker sound is a personal preference. I bought a pair of original Klipsch Heresy for my son. Very accurate speakers and easy to drive. I think they sounded wonderful at low volumes but became too harsh (horns)for ME with volume. I refrain from saying anything negative about a brand as others may have a different experience. If you like it then it's GOOD.

I ended up getting the info from my dealer. It was a nice thought for a min tho.........wouldve loved to have been able to get 40% off of an XMC-1, over in the North we pay close to 1700$ for that piece of gear. Unfortunately funds are a little tight after getting the twins.....sorry for the delay guys been super busy this week. Havent had much time to enjoy the 1's either....hope you had a good week man. vinniemac

I think once i find a tube pre at a decent price i think it might be a match made for heaven. I am dying to get my hands on the XSP-1 G2 but needs a little more time to smooth things out with the mrs. llol. Wont be too long tho!! Bye for now man. Vinniemac
