I have an XMC-1 coming next week and I have a question about using it with my XDA Dac. First, do i even need it at all, if so what the best option to hook it up to the XMC? Sorry if this is an obvious question, a lot of things have changed since 2005 and my Rotel RSP-1068 Thanks for the help Michael

DAC will not be needed in conjunction with your XMC-1. The XMC is far superior to your DAC. Start another system or sell the DAC to recoup some of your money. I replaced a XSP-1 and DC-1 when I purchased the XMC-1 and did a side by side comparison. Unless I could find another use for them, I had no need. Read the manual closely and your life shall be greatly enriched with the great sounds your new toy will bring. Hope you have speakers to match the increase in SQ that the unit will bring. Once again, welcome! Ill buy the first round of Emo Kool-Aid

I agree with Nick, the XMC-1 DAC implementation is a much later generation than a XDA-1 and as such has some notable superiorities. Plus it is based on a Ti/Bur Brown DAC which have great reputations for accuracy and detail without colouration.
Cheers Gary
