Wow I guess I am a cheapstake as the most I have ever spent on a display was a $900 projector a few years back. That is a lot of mula for a tv.

Sorry to hear about this Darksky, and your poor Panny! If you watch from even a little bit off-center (as I often do), then you'll want to avoid LCDs/LEDs sets like the plague. Plasma black levels and color fidelity still blow me away but it's the off axis fidelity that would also be a deal breaker for me.

Also, I don't get the curved design. Doesn't it introduce geometric problems off axis?

I've heard many don't think too highly of rtrings reviews on avsforums. The guy never even bothered to review the sony 940c even though it was one of the best screens last year. The 850 is an edge lit lcd.. the 940c and 940d is a FALD screen. Full array local dimmming back lit screen which is far superior to edge lit. The only model out this year from Sony which has the flad is thr top of the line 940d model. www.amazon.com/Sony-XBR75X940D-75-Inch-Ultra-Model/dp/B01A5LU71A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1463759666&sr=8-1&keywords=Sony+940dCheck the first review on this page on the 940d. Puts it into words better then I did.

IMO for $6.5K the better TV is a projector.

I would be really steamed at my insurance company. Their own rep told you to wait, and if you had not gotten to them to talk - you would be hosed. I would talk to my agent, explain the situation, and demand an extension at the full agreed-to replacement value. Given you 1 day based on THEIR problem is wrong. And, if they didn't comply, I would get something now to avoid losing $ and then start shopping for a new insurance company.

Family tv no.. it's bad enough the kids and wife need me for most everything as it is. Thank god they can atleast turn the tv on.. though they barely can turn off the reciever. Though most of the time they turn on other zones so it stays on. :/

I'd say buy locally.. grab the most expensive set your insurance will cover. If it's bb you have 14 days to return it no questions. If your a elite member thrn 30 days.. Elite plus then 45 days to change your mind and return it if you find something else.
Get your money back and spend it elsewhere if needed.
