All -
A credible friend (50 years in this hobby) with a very high-end system (Conrad Johnson GATT, Wilson Sophias, Ayre QB-9 etc) shared these thoughts, and I wanted to pass them on:
"Over the last year or so, installed a bunch of different music players on my MacBook. Here are my thoughts…
Audrivana… best sound. Nice display. Integrates Qobuz and Tidal, a big plus for me. A bit expensive at $74, but some are way more. Good written instructions but difficult to contact for service. Easiest installation.
Pure Music... Great program with good customer service.
Bit Perfect… easy to use program and best value. Decent sound. Least featured.
Roon… great program with by far best Metadata. Most expensive of this group with annual renewal required. Good sound.
Amarra… Maybe the Windows XP of the bunch. Require and runs through iTunes to play your music slowing the computer down. Glitchy. Always trying to sell you something. Good sound. Worst overall for this group."

Thanks, but I will stick to Amarra anyway. it features "iRC" AKA Dirac...
Sounds mighty fine to me, but it's expensive.
