After running dirac and listening to it for about a month I'm curious what I can do with my filters (if anything) to help remove a little of the "honk" or "boxiness" in the voices. This only occurs at loud levels and it seems to be primarily with women's voices.
I did not have this issue while listening loud using the peq in my old umc-200. Voices, male or female, were always very clear at any listening level before. That's why I'm posting this, because I know I can listen at even louder levels without that slight honk in my room but I'm not sure on how to correct or get rid of it?
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

I had a similar result. I was doing my measurements in the single chair position. When I widened the microphone positions, the problem was gone. Worth a try, depending on how you are measuring now.

I would recommend that you experiment with different spacings for the microphones in the measurement phase, saving each project separately until you find "the one". Concentrate around your listening area, then try spacing out wider. I've found it makes a significant difference in the overall coloring of the sound. Also if you're using the Emotiva mic try the calibration files found here (bottom of the post). You can't apply EQ on top of the Dirac filters (most you can do is tweak the subwoofer level). My front row is three seats wide with the mlp in the middle. When I ran dirac the widest I got was almost to the middle of the surrounding seats. I can re-run it going further to the outside of the surrounding seats but I'm wondering how that could effect (correct) the issue I'm having?
Oh yeah, I'm using a umik calibrated from csl if that makes any difference.

As long as you have your present measurements saved there is no risk, you can always go back to your present filter. I've seen such changes make surprising differences in the sound.

Just as a final entry to this thread, I ran dirac going wider than my first measurements and so far so good. When listening loud that slight honk is gone, so far anyway. I've only tested this on a few clips and have been pleased. While 2 ch listening the sound stage is wider with voices even more front and center than before.
