I wouldn't want to give up the RCA outputs which are now hooked up to powered monitors. The balanced outs are free...

Thanks for the suggestions. So I guess with the Little Dot the monitors and the headphones would both be active unless I turned one or the other off? With the Schiit amp I could switch between the headphones and the monitors, I would just be using the DAC and the analog input section of the DC-1, not the volume control? The headphones I have now are Grado GS1000e, would either amp be clearly better?

But it will still pump huge amounts of power. The tube based Mjolnir unit may be slightly noisier for lower impedances. But then again 32 ohms is not an unusual impedance though so you may not have an issue. I think it's more an issue for very low impedance in ear monitor units. I would email Schiit and ask. It is probably just fine though.... I couldn't tell you which amp is better. The Mjolnir likely has moar powah! Your Grado's are higher end in the line so they may benefit from good amplification. Shop around, do some research, read some reviews. I have tried very powerful headphone amps to my power hungry senneiser and to tell the truth tey can sound remarkable with serious power behind it. There is another VERY nice unit. www.audio-gd.com/Pro/Headphoneamp/NFB1AMP/NFB1AMPEN.htmIt pumps huge amounts of power and since it is Audio GD their quality is bound to be very nice as well. The Audio GD master 9 is similar to this but it's a (very) high quality preamp as well. But it's more pricey. It's as good or slightly better than the XSP-1 according to user on this forum. Note: there are lower priced options out there. One other thing - this isn't a great idea but using the headphone output of the DC-1 at a low volume connected to a headphone amp works as well. But the quality isn't as amazing.

I am going to look into the Schiit Lyr 2 since it mutes preamp output when the headphones are plugged in. I can't see why the Mjolnir 2 wouldn't do that, but apparently it does not.

Just curious, does the DC-1 have problems driving your cans or do you just not like the sound? It does very well with my PM-2s.
