Curious to see how many have made the move to a "Smart Home" and what types of devices you are using. It would also be interesting to see what brands of each of these devices people are using. Please also share if you have a centralized control system that handles your smart devices or if you are simply using manufacturer provided apps to control devices.

You left out AC outlets so I chose appliances for that. A Harmony Elite with the Home Hub Extender controlling the little bit I have.

I can see how appliances may be a possible option. I typically associate outlets with lighting as I am using Lutron Caseta which is a lighting device that happens to have an outlet unit that was designed for lamps.

My current list is short with AV, Lighting and Thermostat. I am about to add security and garage door as I look at the MyQ unit sitting on my desk. For thermostat I am using Honeywell Wi-fi that is controlled via the Lutron Caseta app as well as lights.

They call the Leviton DZPA1-1LW an appliance module so that's why I chose appliance.

I have some old X-10 units that I bring out once in a while. I do have lights on the riser in my home theater controlled by X-10 light units. But I don't have the programmable unit. Just press a button on a key-fob when someone looks like they're getting up... saves them tripping up in the HT. I also have an X-10 Robo Dog which barks like a huge dog when the sensor is tripped. Helpful to let me know when someone enters the driveway.

I tried the Lutron outlet on a space heater I had to try and warm up the bathroom before I took a shower in the winter. It didn't work with the space heater, though I knew it probably wouldn't as I had read that others had tried it unsuccessfully with devices other than lamps. What appliances are you controlling?

I guess I do have one smart set up in my home. I have four ET-3 trigger expansion modules. Keeps me from having to physically turn each component on!

As the costs come down I'm gradually changing everything over to wifi control, garage doors, veranda lighting (LED strips) are completed so far using Apps on iDevices. I have multiple Zones on the UMC-200 controlled via iDevices blue tooth using an infrared blaster. I haven't found a user friendly, reasonably priced wifi replacement as yet, but they are appearing almost daily.
Next wifi project is the air conditioning in the lounge and dining rooms, I'll do that during winter as the aircon guys have lots of specials when demand is low.
Cheers Gary

Like geebo using the Harmony Ultimate Home with Hub Extender, also several Lutron Z-Wave devices; dimmer, switches, plugs. Turns fountains on at sunrise, outdoor lighting on at sunset, schedules are very nice. Working on a Homelink / Zwave bridge so I can use the third button on the car remote to turn on outdoor and landscape lights when coming home at night; used to have it working years ago with X-10, but no luck so far integrating with Harmony. Oh, Nest thermostat and door looks controlled by Harmony too.

I bought a Nest thermostat, a brilliant product; I love it. There is suppose to be a Nest SmartHome Hub in the works, but much delayed because of Nest management problems. Looks like Google (who owns Nest) might back another Hub, unless Nest can cleanup its act. Very disappointing.
