I'm currently using a Marantz SR7400 as a preamp for my xpa 2 which drives a pair of studio 100s. The Marantz drives the surrounds and center and an in ceiling set of speaker B speakers. I'd like to upgrade the preamp section.
The usp-1 had a home theater bypass. Can I hookup the basX preamp from the Marantz front speaker preouts to the basX input then output from basX to my xpa2?
I already have the xsp 100 phono preamp and am happy with that. The dac in the Marantz works but it is older tech. Would the dac in the pt100 be an upgrade? The Marantz has digital sources as well as an analogue output cd Player and tape deck hooked up to it.
Would the pt100 work in my situation as a stereo preamp when needed, dac, and also function as a home theater pass through from the Marantz?
Is the pt100 an upgrade or sideways addition?

I bet you could answer this question yourself. Look at the back of it. There is a whole bunch of products to come. If one does not meet your needs wait for the next. It has been that way as long as I can remember.

Hi education, welcome to the forum.
The BasX PT-100 doesn't appear to have a bypass mode. And because of the price points, I would guess that the DAC quality would be about the same. I'm afraid that anything that is sent out of the SR7400s pre out would be processed so that using the PT-100 for a volume control wouldn't improve the sound.
I'm guessing that because this piece is a "Basic X" that it would be a sideways move for you. Though we won't know until August when someone will actually hear one and give us a review.

I am interested in using this in my garage and output to my amp and my outdoor speakers. Is this the same dongle that is used with the UMC 200 ?
1 – Bluetooth receiver (requires optional AptX Bluetooth dongle).
