Is there a media center software (like Jriver), that integrates Tidal so I can have remote control of it? I see Audirvana does but that is for Mac (I have Windows 10), and Roon does but I might as well buy a Bluesound Node2 for the prices they charge.
What is important to me: media control center on laptop connected to my USB DAC; full featured remote control; hi res capability; EASE of use. NOT important: any DSP or upsampling; multiroom/multisystem use
I would also consider just using JRiver IF there was a good desktop remote control app for iPad. I could then just remote control Tidal. I use Jumi, but it's not very user friendly.
Thanks in advance. Associated equipment in signature.

Yeah, I'm trying to avoid another piece of equipment, but it looks like to bluesound would be similar.

LMS and KODI have a Tidal plug in. Tried KODI and I'm not feeling it. I'm not familiar with LMS but I'll check it out.

Amarra for TIDAL doesn't qualify as a media center, plus it's OS X only, but I thought I would mention it for good measure since it does have a nice iOS remote component. Amarra for TIDAL

Amarra for TIDALGreat suggestion for OS X users. I uploaded my iTunes files (ALAC) to JRiver and it's OK. Not all the album art imported and I'm not sure why. I also downloaded the free, demo hi-res files hrom HD tracks. Very nice, but impossible to compare because I don't have standard resolution samples of those tracks. Gonna take some time and play around with the free trial. One frustration is you have to purchase the remote app, so it's difficult to get a true free trial run. May also try Roon as there is a free trial. I have my ALAC files on an external drive (as well as on my desktop which is backed up on Carbonite, BTW) so I can move them around pretty quick and try out different stuff. The "gear geek" in me wants to buy a network player, and the budget minded part of me says to make the laptop work! I'm still paying off some of my recent purchases so I'm really trying to stay budget!

LMS and KODI have a Tidal plug in. Just checked out LMS (Logitech Media Server) and I will definitely give that a try, too. Seems pretty powerful for a free download.

I've used it for more than 10 years it is indeed very good. However, I found Roon clearly better and well worth the price.

Thanks! It works with more players of different kinds, not only Roon ready players, but also all players that works with LMS, AirPlay as well as others. The rich media content is better than what you have with LPs It allows you to distribute different functions such as core, player and contrioller in a flexible way. The control software is easier to use. And so on. Having said that LMS offers more functionality through plugins to some extent. Especially if you already have Squeezbox devices.

Forgot one advantage with LMS, it allows you to stream FLAC and other compressed lossless formats. This might be crucial with highres media, especially when using WLAN.

OK, so here is an off the wall idea. And I do not know iPads at all, so this may not be possible.
But, from what I see, you have a W10 laptop. You can run Tidal through it and get sound to your DAC. But, you want to sit away from the laptop and select songs to go to the DAC. Right? So, you want to control your PC via the iPad within. Minimal extra gear/software. Correct?
If so, and I don't know Apple stuff so apologies if I do not understand the possibilities of a Mac, but...if you can set up a VPN with remote control of your PC from the Mac, you could natively play Tidal from the VPN session to your DAC and use your iPad to control it.
Alternatively...can't you just put the laptop on your...uh...lap...laptop on top of your lap...and run a long USB cord to your DAC? Or... put your laptop near your gear, run a long video cable to a monitor near you and control the laptop via a wireless keyboard while viewing the monitor near you? Logitech makes great low price options for wireless keyboards.

How about having a player that cost less than $100 connected to your DAC and not having to use any cables, whether you use a tablet, smart phone, lap top or any other device to control it...

Decided to do LMS with Squeezeplay. Put iPeng9 on my iPad; Tidal icon right on the control homepage. I can even mix and match songs from my library and songs from Tidal in my active playlist. It's pretty slick with entire control from the iPad. . The entire thing cost me $8.99.
Of course, the laptop has to be dedicated to the system (I had gotten a cloud based Windows 10 on sale from Walmart) and I pay for Tidal. Still, I can't believe how inexpensive and yet very powerful this method of creating a media server was.
