Was having some ceiling work done and I see small pieces of fiberboard on top of amp. Blow it out with compressed air before using?

If the small pieces are on top of the amp, I would vacuum off what is there first. Then, I would unplug it, let it sit a good long time (at least an hour to be safe...) to let the caps de-charge, then remove the top cover and give it a blast of compressed air WHILE I also had a vacuum running with the hand-attachment held over the amp sucking up all bits that come up.
Then, I would let it sit for a good long time to ensure that ANY moisture from the compressed air dries from the circuit before I put the top back on and plugged it back it. I would wait several hours, and if you have a hair dryer (from my Avatar, you might guess I do not...but my daughter does...)...you could accelerate this by blowing slightly warm air over it for a bit from a distance to help evaporate any condensation.

Yes, use a hair dryer and do what klinemj suggests. Also, to avoid the hassle, cover your gear before having any work done where dust is likely. But don't forget to unplug everything first.
