Was curious what a used, warranty almost expired, XPA 1 could fetch.
Not sure if this is the correct place to ask this question............

Whatever someone's willing to pay. I'm not being flippant - Prices on used gear vary WIDELY depending on condition, scarcity, and the quality of the marketing (good photos, good description all increase value). You may find someone that wants the item & is willing to pay top dollar. You'll always be assailed, however, by those who want a bargain & are hoping that you're desperate enough to sell cheaply. Stick to your price & you'll usually get it in the end, but it may take lots of time. The more eager you are to sell, the more you may have to discount to get the item moved.
Good luck!

Agree with boom. Markets are weird for all kinds of goods. You can ask a certain price but in the end, someone has to pay for it. The last few items I've sold, electronics and handguns have all gone for less than what I wanted and what I thought they were worth. I have accepted that what I think something is worth is somewhat non-relevant!!

$500-600 would be a decent estimate.

With the warranty nearly gone I'd have to say $550 to about $650 depending on condition. The real trouble is their weight. if you have to ship. Shipping prices in recent years has really gotten expensive and it seems both major shippers have gotten more sloppy in their handling of packages. I have a FedEx and UPS accounts and save about 30% or more over some of the local shipping places not affiliated with FedEx or UPS. Going to the UPS or FedEx 'Store' I save about 15% shipping from home. I don't know for sure but it seems like shipping prices have about doubled over the last 8-10 years. One more reason why we'll see more lightweight amps and AVRs with class d power.

I tend to think 50% of retail plus 15% is fair for audio gear in excellent condition.

Here is what I will say to you...Don't waste your time trying to sell it here on the board. The secondary Emotiva market here is VERY soft unless you just want to dump it to pay your electric bill...I recommend Audiogon I have duplicated the last 6 items I have had available and not one sold here and most items received offers far below what any research has provided as a "reasonable" offer...I got an offer here for a basically new XPA-2 Gen 2 with 4 1/2 years of warranty left of $400 but only if I shipped at my expense...Audiogon is a flat rate listing service that gives you 30 days exposure one fee and that's it not like eBay that has fees out the ying/yang. Every item sold on Audiogon in less than 2 weeks! Don't get me wrong there are flakes there as well as anywhere just a lot less of them. In short: unless you're desperate or are selling old dvd's or something don't waste your time here...

I've had excellent luck buying and selling on Audiogon. The Emporium is a buyer's paradise but Audigon has traffic, mediation processes, stellar communication lines.

On the other hand I have bought and sold at least a dozen pieces in this forum and at least the same amount in the Klipsch forum.
Let's be realistic, no forum possesses the ability to sell your product for you.
In here I can see the previous posts of anyone interested in buying and selling so it allows me to sell or buy with confidence. I think everyone admits that sites like Ebay, Craigslist, Audiogon, AVS and others may be better suited and reach a larger audience but on many of them you can see nothing of the seller's background and know nothing of how trustworthy a buyer may be. Smaller sites like Emotiva and Klipsch allow you to have a more personal relationship with others in the forums.

I'll just add that the "Emporium" was never meant for high volume sales and bidding, so being apart of a tight knit community there is more to selling personal equipment than getting top dollar. There is something to be said for sales between friends & forum family, and passing on what someone else may consider to be their dream peace when you considered it a stepping stone.
