Is there a trick to setting this up, or is one of my components malfunctioning? I ran the included trigger from UMC200's out to UPA700's in and nothing happens. I see nothing in the manual to guide me.

Sorry, Under settings, I see no Zone 1. I re-watched the set up videos, they do not mention the trigger.
Under Setup > Input Set up
I see Trigger 1 Mode [Always Off, {Main Zone}, Input Set, All Zone PWR, Zone 2 PWR, Zone 3 PWR]
Under Setup > Input Set up > Input Set up
I have Trigger 1 set to ON for all inputs

If the Trigger 1 Mode is set to Input set, that will work. But if it's set to always off, Zone 2, or Zone 3, it will not. Change the Trigger 1 Mode in Input set up to All Zone PWR. Like so:  Be sure also that it is indeed Trigger 1 that you are using. My triggers for example are inverted from what I normally use. Trigger 1 is running to my DAC, whereas Trigger 2 is running to my UPA-2. (I used to have that the other way around, and thought I had put it back that way, buuuuuuuttt....) |

Check that you are using a mono cable and not a stereo cable. The stereo cable can be made to work but requires you to position it 'just so'.

Usually I use a Mono Cable too, but I have had good luck still with a Stereo one in a pinch.

When i used to have the umc-200 , upa -500 and upa-700 , Emotiva sent me a free trigger board ET-3 which solved the problem . No longer needed with my present setup .
