There's obviously demand for CD players and maybe I abandoned the format too soon but I do wonder how much longer companies will continue designing and releasing them. I rarely use my ERC-2, and pretty much stream everything instead to the point where I put the ERC-2 up for sale recently. But the ERC-2 is such a nice piece of gear that I came to my senses and canceled the sale listing. Then to celebrate I put in the remastered 2 CD Beatles White Album (not both CD's at the same time). Sure sounded good and made me appreciate what a quality CD player Emo made. That said, CD player sales are probably going to keep declining and in the near future we'll have CD purists advocating that lost art form and lamenting how the lovely, pure sound of CD's has been perverted by things like Apple's conversion of Tidal to iTidal using low resolution proprietary .wave files. Then proponents of iTidal will make fun of the CD crowd, saying how nice it is not to have to make sure to avoid touching the CD surface to avoid fingerprints, and having to deal with broken trays and storing bulky CD cases and dealing with CD jitter and skipping. Meanwhile the price of CD players will go up to about $2,500 and will weigh about 100 lbs.

Any mention of a monoblock xpa gen3? Thanks. My take aways from the latest Podcast There is a BasX CD Player A100 headphone jack up front with "a surpise" XPA-1 selling well and continues indefinitely"Monster Atmos" in the XMC-1 Airmotiv speakers on the water, available 1st week August There is an 15" sub, joining the 10" and the 12" Emotiva have a new truck for transporting displays Gen 3 XPA amps selling well, new cart layout soon. Gen 3 XPA 14 Channel amp on the way Cheers Gary Sounds like they are staying the course for now.

Well the point I was trying to make was that the prices of CD players would skyrocket into turntable pricing territory. So I guess $2,500 was on the way low end of things... And the weight and size would balloon up as well, my estimate again probably being way too low. Then all of a sudden the harsh, sterile sound of CD's would become a nostalgic wonderfully pure, never fatiguing sound.

Hmmm, that is an interesting thought. Read not long ago that Reel to Reel was the new Vinyl. Kind of makes sense that CD would follow Vinyl, and Tape. The Boutique makers will make some very exotic stuff. United Home Audio has made some custom Reel to Reels based on the bullet proof Tascam BR-20 without time code by the way, and too many turntables to count what is possible. Time will tell as streaming has now been the music convenience of choice. By the way only touch the edge of my music file if you don't mind.

How do you get CD quality music ? Do you go to Amazon to download ? All I see there is MP3. You think folks are flocking to the Hi rez sites to get it ?
I tell folks all the time to buy CD's.
If I want to hear something high quality on my main system I put a CD in my ERC-1. The reason is I do not yet have a proper player for my FLAC files to have over on my main system. I am not going to put a PC over with it. Someone needs to make music players that do not cost a fortune that are friendly to operate stand alone with your old fashion analog two channel stereo.

Very expensive CD players are already made. My favorite player (that I have heard) is $8k new and goes for about $2,500 on the used market. Buy a good used CD player now while they are in decline.

Was there any mention of an integrated amp? I can't seem to get the podcast to play properly - all I heard was the first minute or so before it crashed Flash Player and FireFox.
