Did we not hear something from Dan on the A-100 that there were settings inside that would change the output on the headphone amp? I think allow it to run full power and then limit the output if needed ?

I think allow it to run full power and then limit the output if needed ? Might you be referring to this post from Dan? The A-100 has a headphone output driven directly from the amplifier stage. It has a current liming resistor that can be overridden by a simple removable link or easily modified to optimize for a particular type of headphone load. It'll drive the pants off of low efficiency phones, like planars. Also, it's much quieter then the original A-100 and uses the new amplifier design too. Personally I'm chomping at the bit to get one of these for my Sennheisers.

Yes, lots of power in a headphone amp is a very good thing and it now has the Lonnie approved touch for headphones. I have no doubt that the headphone guys will approve of it also !

I believe someone on HeadFi.org had modified one of the original A-100's for headphone use, so I do believe this could potentially be a big seller for the headphone crowd.

Oh yeah, or vertically. It is scaled down. Since it uses matter anti matter annihilation. Headroom is endless. And it will play nice with your cyclotron too.

There's obviously demand for CD players and maybe I abandoned the format too soon but I do wonder how much longer companies will continue designing and releasing them.

I followed the tutorial on there to add a headphone jack to the front of mine. Also the person I bought it from installed a four pin xlr cable to the speaker taps. Currently using it for my HE-6. Curious if the new version will have more juice.

Personally I'm chomping at the bit to get one of these for my Sennheisers. Personally I know zero/zip/zilch about the headphone arena. What would be the potential performance differences of the new A-100 + a DAC vs. the DC-1 if you used both just for headphones?
