I have a newly un-boxed xmc-1 and a Proceed AMP5. The AMP5 AC cord is plugged into a Niles AC-3 triggered power outlet and the XMC-1 is plugged into a Monster Cable power conditioner. The AMP5 is normally completely powered off (not in standby. This is to minimize power consumption and heat) so I am trying to use the Niles AC-3 to turn on the main power of the AMP5 from the trigger on zone one of the XMC-1. Everything works great right up until the amp goes from standby to full power. At this point the XMC-1 display goes completely blank while the blue button lights stay on, the AMP5 losses all power, and the AC-3 begins to buzz.
For a test I unplugged the AC-3 and plugged the AMP5 and XMC-1 into the same power conditioner. I get the same results. The minute the AMP5 goes from standby to full power, the XMC-1 display goes blank and the power strip begins to buzz and the AMP5 goes dark. I then plugged the AMP5 into the AC main and left the XMC-1 plugged into the power strip and repeated the test. Again the XMC-1 goes blank and the power strip buzzes while the AMP5 loses all power.
Plugging both the XMC-1 and the AMP5 into the AC mains works fine but I want to be able to power on the AMP5 only when in use. The relay inside the AC-3 is rated at 125V 15A and the power conditioner has no relay it's just a MOV yet they make the same buzz. The AMP5 is rated at 250W at full power (no source) and 150W in standby, while the XMC-1 is rated at 35W. So about 3amps at full draw. There doesn't seem to be a problem with to high a load and yet the XMC-1 does this weird thing and the AMP5 seems to lose all power.
I'm at a loss as to what is causing this and any suggestions would be welcome.
Thank you.
