Hello all! I recently purchased a refurbished XMC-1 and have gotten everything to work as expected so far except the optical digital output. If I hook up an optical cable, not light shines out of the end. I just looked at the optical output on the back of the XMC-1 and I can't see any light coming out of it either. Is there an option to turn the output on or off that I have missed?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!

I didn't look at mine, but assume there's a light there because it does work.

This is what I assumed.
This morning I decided to power down the XMC-1 using the power switch on the back. When I turned it on, the optical output was working! Then I made coffee and when I returned to the XMC-1, there was no optical output.
I then did a factory reset and it worked again...for 10 seconds.
THEN I did a factory reset, powered it down using the power switch on the back, powered it on, did a system restore and NOW I'M IN BUSINESS! (at least for the last 15 minutes)
I hope this stays working.
Thank you both for your replies. (I understand the whole laser in the eye thing, but thanks for the warning!)

Well, forget it. It was emitting light, but no audio information. It stopped glowing after about an hour. Calling tech support. What a bummer.
