Hello, What is the difference between zone 1 out and left and right in the 7 channels analog out section? Is it an exact copy or is it something else? Thank you

Hello, What is the difference between zone 1 out and left and right in the 7 channels analog out section? Is it an exact copy or is it something else? Thank you The Zone 1 outputs do follow anything in the 'main zone, the distinction between the Left and Right outputs is that the Z1 outputs provide a 'mix down' of multi channel material into two channel. With a multi channel signal the L/R always provide the discrete signal for those channels.

Thanks AudioHTIT. If XMC-1 mode is set to stereo mode, does that mean that zone 1 L/R is the exact copy of L/R in the 7 channels analog out section?

No, bass management would still route to the subwoofer channel so the main L/R would have less bass signal below the crossover.

Thanks Sensei. I read several times user's manual. I think nothing is said about that. In other words, until I have the multichannel amp setup, I should use Zone 1 output or is there another mode downmixing the whole signal?

If you only have a stereo setup, you should still use the regular analog outs. Just configure your speakers properly in the setup menu (no subwoofer).

In other words, if you only have two speakers configured, and hooked up to front L/R, you can play multi-channel material, and the XMC-1 will know to mix the other channels into those two, *provided you do not select a listening mode that tells it not to* (off the top of my head, I would think "Direct", maybe "Reference Stereo"...not sure about "Stereo"...
Really, the same applies if you have two speakers plus one or more subs. Just let the XMC-1 know what amps/speakers you actually have connected in the setup menus...then it's a matter of understanding what the different modes do. I don't think there's any reason you would want to use "Zone 1" in your main listening area, and probably several reasons not to.
