Well, everyone is entitled to their own opinion....... Personally, I'm getting tired of seeing speakers with curved sides.... and I never was fond of piano black. I have a pair of Stealth 8's, and I like the way they look.... and I like the way these look. But, as I said, to each his own... and I guess we'll see how many people agree with me. How about this... Big Dan posted this 3 years ago??? This is where he ended up? Awful!!! I respect you and your opinion; however, I'm coming from the point that you guys need to use a little market research from customers not just based on prior studio monitor sales or your own. I know you live and breath this stuff, and you've seen darn near everything out there which makes sense why you feel the way you do. If you look back at the original thread that Big Dan posted teasing the new speakers back in 2013 I'd say the majority of people wanted those not what is being presented. I also understand that I don't speak for all of us only myself.

I personally look for detail sound, instrument separation and 3d presentation. We all know that looks come with a price. I always like Dali speakers since i started with the affordable line. The epicons that i have right now give me everything that i look in a bookshelf speaker for my listening room. If i move to a bigger room i will probably go with the epicons 6 or 8 depending on the size of the room.

Enclosure strength/stiffness and standing wave reduction are two common results or curved surfaces. Straight boxes are surely far easier to design and build, but nice curves seem more organic.

The Wilson Alexandria XLF (aka Rockem' Sockem' Robot speakers) cost as much as some houses. They weight 665 lbs each. I've heard these, I was impressed with the sheer size! Not impressed by the sound though for some reason Wilson's seem to be a little thin on mid-range. When Wilson auditioned them here in Scottsdale AZ they had all Mcintosh gear and had them flanked by dual 18" Wilson subs. Still was unimpressed as much as I wanted to like them. Thiel 2.4se's sound fantastic, but would like it to be more "Curvy" (Dan) maybe Sonus Faber like. Not a big fan of SF's sound signature to tipped up. [/quote] I heard this comment from others on the Wilsons. You'd think that at $215,000+ that everybody would be wetting their pants with delight.

Speakers have improved immensely over the decades since I've gotten into this Hobby.Going all the way back to the 70,s when you had paper cones and so on. The thing I like about speakers is that since technology has improved and has been around for decades with the improvements even the low-end models have improved immensely. But to me, the payoff you get from years of use and if taken care of they will continue to give you years of audio bliss.

Several very high end speakers still use paper cones that are hand-flug pulp onto a form. In many cases a heavier cone is ideal for performance. Many professionals who restore old AR speakers, as well as other hi-end classic speakers, say the replacement cones are too light and don't perform as the older, heavier ones.
