Does the xmc in its current state pass through 4k video..looking to get the Samsung 4k player or possibly just get the xbox one s. I am also wondering about my HDMI cables will I need to get new ones...currently using the emotive flat HDMI cables.

I am also wondering about my HDMI cables will I need to get new ones...currently using the emotive flat HDMI cables. It will pass 4k but not protected 4k. You'll need HDCP 2.2 HDMI 2.0 for that. Emotiva is going to introduce an upgrade board with that capability.

Both players will have to be connected directly to the TV for 4K HDR video. The Samsung has a second HDMI output that can connect to your processor so you can also have HD audio. (including Atmos) The Xbox S doesn't have a second HDMI output, but does have an optical output that can be connected to your XMC. You will only get the older compressed audio formats.
