For some reason my UMC-200 requires 2 or sometimes 3 restarts to handshake other hardware.. Anyone else having this issue? Tried new hdmi cables and different input on the TV and still have the same issue.. I believe it's the UMC-200 because I don't get any sound from the directv box until it handshakes with the TV for picture... I have updated to the latest Firmware.

I also don't get any sound from the cable box until the UMC-200 handshakes with the TV for picture. This only started happening when I updated to a new (IQ3) cable box, doesn't happen with the old (IQ2) cable box. There is a later version of HDCP in the IQ3 so my guess is that's what is causing the change.

It's happening with all other devices connected to it as well. Started about 3 months ago.

I can't say whether it happens or not with other sources, the default turn on sequence is panel, UMC-200, cable box. If I switch to another source (eg; blu ray or ATV) the handshaking has already occurred. I'll give another source a try when I get home tonight. Thinking about it, I did do a panel software update around the same time as the new cable box, so it might be that.

Depends on the whole chain. I have one of the first UMC-200s to be shipped still running. I never had any HDMI handshake issues with quite a lot of different devices (4 different HTPCs, PS3, PS4, 2 BluRay-Players, Cablebox, FireTV Box) so far with one exception: Everything built by Pioneer... Both of my DVD-Players (668, 989) as well as one of the BluRay-players I had sometimes have Problems to establish a handshake.
For the 989 currently in the System I solved this with a specific order in which to Switch the devices on.
I think this is perfectly normal with HDMI that now and then you get some incompatibilites between devices.

I also noticed that I'm getting a USB mismatch error at startup from time to time... I don't have anything plugged into the usb port.. I'm thinking about starting a ticket for RMA repair..

I also get intermittent handshaking issues with the DTV Genie. Sometimes when changing channels (or sources then back to DTV), the screen color is PINK. I tried different cables with no success. I just change the channel, then back and it usually corrects it.

My UMC-200 just started having a similar issue this week. Now it won't handshake with any source. I tried replacing cables and resetting the UMC. That didn't work, but I'll continue troubleshooting tonight after work. Looks like a call to Emotiva CS is in my future
