Why not spend the extra $100.00 over the PT-100? Im not discounting the fact that $100 is $100 but it would appear that they're the same unit but for $100 you get an integrated. Ease of use and versatility goes way up, so does resale value IMHO!
Somwhy not? What am I missing?

I have been contemplating the PT-100 because I already have an amp that I am thinking of pairing with it.Unless someone was in a similar situation or wanted more power I agree that the extra $100 could be money well spent.

You only have to look at the Emotiva fusion and the UMC-200.

Not that I have personal experience with the Fusion but I do with the UMC-200 which I regard highly. The two units I'm asking about are identical except for added amp to one and not the other.

The one constant I've found in my audio life is that needs change. How many of us ( very sick individuals) have repurchase a piece we've sold to fit a new need? Needs and situations do change.

I think that for what I believe to be the target audience that extra $100 could be well worth it.Think how much it would cost to buy the amplification seperately.Plus some people will like having one less component and less connections.

This thread has nothing to do with the validity of said gear. I do nelieve both will fill an important spot for different people. I just wanted some discussion on the two. Im very please that Emotiva had the foresight and vision to offer both. Ill most likely be purchasing the integrated at some point in time! When Im no so cash disenfranchised as Ive recently found myself!

I think it'd be more accurate to compare it to the LMC-1, not the UMC-200 and the Fusion.
That aside, I can totally see how it would be of value to someone as an integrated amp. Hell if it had come around sooner, that'd be in our office instead of a Yamaha R-N500.

Maybe you retire it to your little system out in garage. Would the amp section that is in the box take away from the preamp section while you are using it to control a bigger amp in another system? Only a $100 more and you have a great little amp built in to power some small speakers. Actually some big speakers. My little mini-x A100 sounds great and many have said it sounds good with big speakers. I was using my mini-x for my desktop but now using for my bedroom with my passive small sony speakers. Not getting rid of it for sure !

I think they are both great deals. But the reason why somebody would spend $100 less and go for the amp-less option is that it's $100 less and they don't want the amps in the same box/ don't need amps at all.

For many years if I could save $100 I would do it and the money I saved I put it to work in the market. That was a smart move and I am looking at a big account now later in life !

Just letting everyone know that our first batches of the PT-100 and TA-100 are almost sold. We had huge numbers of reserves/pre-orders! They are available now on the cart so if you are looking to get one, then I would act sooner than later. PT-100 LINKTA-100 LINK

I would normally agree that the extra $100.00 is a great way to go unless of course you already have perhaps a favorite power amplifier around with some speakers, and a Preamplifier makes more sense. Been looking around allot, and BAS-X just makes so much sense, and is the bargain I think many will enjoy.
