1001hifi.blogspot.com/2016/05/the-new-2017-revox.htmlIn the big scheme of things Analog. Will this be of interest to you? Do you have a collection of tapes needing a machine to playback on. I am assuming 1/4 to 1/2 track support. The images suggest 1/4 inch tape format. With Vinyl, and Cassette, and now Reel to Reel not going away anytime soon. Makes Digital mavens cringe I am sure. To me it is a great variety of getting it done. If you dig Tubes, Analog, and it brings you closer to your musical Nirvana? Than rock on. No one has the say so what your system is, or is not, except you. That being said, I am just wondering what will the price be for this machine. How many will really buy vs. say they want it, and never buy it. Revivals are hard to make work right. Like a sequel to already great movie. How do you top it? You can't make it the same. Or in this Analog world, could you? Allot of the new generation is discovering records for the first time. Third Man Records here in Nashville, and one of my favorite accounts has quite a following of young, and young at heart enthusiasts frequenting their locale, and buying Cassettes, and Records. So I think the landscape looks good for all who love music. Downloads are great, and fun, and easy to do. But there is still something to be said about the Analog experience to shop for a certain record or tape along with others. Sharing what is going on is part of the event. Sharing is one of audio's, and music's finest qualities. Be good to each other, and keep the music playing.

My cousin still has, I think, an old Teac and he spent some years in the 80s buying up reels of all the decent music he could. I'll have to see if he still listens to it. Damn part about that old tape is the shelf life issues. I've got some old tapes of my Dad growing up in the 40s-50s that need to be converted to digital. I'd be afraid to play it myself. Scott

The interesting thing about tape is that it will last allot longer than many speak of. 70 degree low humidity is all they ask for. Never store a tape fast wound. Also if a 2 track, store the tape tails out. To eliminate pre echo print through. You will have many Digital experts gloat how tape won't last etc. If it had been stored properly, and properly maintained, it can last a life time easily. Just so you know, The Library of Congress has many Reels of tapes in their archive, and they really don't do much more than I said. Happy music listening. Thanks for your post.

While I am happy to have my vinyl I just don't think that I am ready to go back to tape,of any variety.Cassettes were convenient back in the day but now we have digital for the sake of convenience.I have too much gear already and too little space,to add more I need a good motivation and so far I just have not found that motivation for tape formats.

I hear you dcg44. I want too go back to tape but yes, the ease and convenience digital offers makes it a low priority for me too. Also cost of blank tape vs. say SD cards, thumb drives, SSD, and still HDD. It is financially hard to justify as much as I love it.

Cool information, thanks! One of my favorite aspects of the web; where else can you get this much education for free? Scott
