I have a Sirius XM subscription which I currently only use in my vehicle.
Since the UMC-200 is not "Sirius XM ready," I'm wondering what the most inexpensive solution might be to gain access in my house. I assume there are standalone receivers?
I'm trying to avoid the up-charge for mobile access even though that, and Google Cast, would be an easy solution.

I may still have an XM receiver somewhere, I'm not sure but I may be able to track it down. It uses a standard 3.5 to RCA cord. If you look it up, I believe the model I had was the Onyx.

shop.siriusxm.com/onyx-plus-home.htmlPersonally, I like stream services like Pandora. More variety of music. Others give you more control, but are more expensive. I very seldom listen to Sirius/XM, although I was an early adopter. I like XM when driving through the Western States, but now that I have my CD's all copied to a few SD cards, I listen to most my music that way, or connect the iphone to the car and use Pandora. At home, it is always Pandora.

Better sound quality as well with streaming services if you're in roughly the eastern two thirds of the U.S. I dumped Sirius on my car as it came with a subscription...I live in the heartland - there are towers everywhere here.

My Sonos systems gets XM. So the RCA or optical connections go into my Emotiva processor...

I'll see if I can track down the Onyx unit I have. If I find it, you can have it for the cost of shipping.

I thought that if you had a subscription for one of their receivers that you could listen online via your computer for free.Am I mistaken on that?

That used to be the case, but it's since been separated as an addon subscription.

If you don't have a standalone device, you can use a Sonos or a PC. There is a small extra fee on top of the subscription for your car receiver ($1.99/month?) but with that you can use any Internet source of XM. I had a standalone device until I got SONOS, and I have it still...but the battery won't take a charge. Sometime you can find cheap deals on them, but XM charge for an extra receiver with them...last I knew.

These things are indeed fairly inexpensive until you add the monthly fees.

The sound quality is actually better via streaming than from the satellite. Also, it can be hard to get a signal or require a long cord run from the antenna.

I once bought a car that came with a Sirius XM subscription. I received a congratulatory letter from them, the whole nine yards. Turned the radio on and it was dead. After trying several times with no success I called up. They told me. The subscription was invalid because the car was a USED car (from a dealership.) Neither party would honor the contract THEY sent me. Great customer relations.....my first and last ever experience with Sirius. I do pay Pandora 4.99 a month and that is wonderful better sound and commercial free I love it
